Pet Friendly Greenery: Safe, stylish, and low-maintenance plant picks for your fur baby’s safety.

Pets and plants can mix—I promise.

If you’ve been hesitant to bring greenery into your space because of your curious cat or snack-hunting dog, this one’s for you. This week’s blog gives you three beginner-friendly, pet-safe plants that can vibe with your home and your fur babies.

1. Haworthia

A small Haworthia succulent with striped, pointed leaves in a terracotta pot on a wooden surface.

Low effort, high reward. Haworthia is a resillient, pet-friendly succulent perfect for beginner and busy folks alike. If It looks like a plant you could vibe with, pick one up here!

Let’s start with one of my all-time faves—Haworthia!

This low-light-tolerant succulent is basically unbothered and deeply chill. It’s super forgiving and thrives on minimal attention. Water only when the soil is completely dry—these plants love being thirsty.

Bonus points: Haworthias are neurodivergent-friendly, ideal for those of us who sometimes struggle with keeping routines. Forgetful plant parents, this one’s perfect for you.

2. Air Plant

Air plants keep It mess-free and modern. Totally soil-free and totally safe for pets.

Next up—the air plant!

If you caught last week’s blog, you already know how fun these are. No soil, no mess. So if your cat or dog does manage to get to it, at least there’s no dirt disaster to clean up. (That is…if you get to it in time. RIP to my poor air plant that met an early end at the paws of my cat. Whew.

Air plants love bright light and humidity, so they’re great for an east- or west-facing bathroom window. Just make sure to let them dry upside down after soaking—it helps prevent water from sitting in the base and causing rot. A little hang time does them good.

3. Spider Plant

Last but never least — the spider plant. A playful and pet-safe fave that adds movement to any space.

Last but never least—the spider plant.

These bright and lively plants love bright, indirect light and a bit of humidity, making them perfect for kitchens or bathrooms with decent light. They’re non-toxic for both dogs and cats, and they grow little baby plants (spiderettes) that hang off the ends—which do look like pet toys. So be ready to rescue them if the batting starts!

Wrap-Up:

Whether you’re living with a curious kitten or a nosy pup, you don’t have to give up your plant dreams. These three picks are easy to care for, beautiful to look at, and—most importantly—safe for your pets.
